Book Review: Stop The Lies: Secrets The Beauty Industry Doesn’t Want You To Know By David Pollock

Disclaimer: I am not paid or sponsored by David Pollock to write this review. This review is strictly my opinions of this book. I received this book as a gift, as part of a Beautypress gift bag at the Beautypress Spotlight Day in October. Thank you.

I was excited to read this book that I received as part of a Beautypress gift bag, at the Spotlight day event. The title itself looked very intriguing to me. While reading this book, I loved the way David Pollock re-enforces the message of natural beauty. His message is definitely the kind of message young women and girls, need to follow. As well as understand.

A little background about David Pollock. David Pollock is a dermatologist and skin care expert, he has worked in the skin care industry for over 20 years. He has experienced the positives and negatives of companies who produce skincare products with little to no end result as desired. Now, David Pollock has produced and developed various skincare products for the top brands in the beauty industry, and a keynote speaker for many national conferences.

SYNOPSIS:

Stop The Lies: Secrets The Beauty Industry Doesn’t Want You To Know discusses ways to feel beautiful without the daily use of cosmetics or unnecessary plastic surgery. David Pollock enforces the message of true beauty, and how women can embrace true beauty through self-confidence. Not only does he teaches women how to feel beautiful, but he also teaches women how to look beautiful with just a smile, and a positive attitude.

This book also discusses ways to read ingredients labels on cosmetic and skincare products. Some skincare and cosmetic companies may claim that the ingredients in their products are safe for your skin, just to gain profits. But, David Pollock points out certain ingredients that may cause skin cancer, eczema, and other toxic damages to your skin. He also teaches women how to live a healthier lifestyles, and foods that are beneficial to achieving healthy skin.

PROS:

This is actually one of my favorite books at the moment. This book is informative, interesting, and truly encourages me to live a better healthier lifestyle. This book helps me feel that I do not have to take a multi-vitamin for everything. Although multi-vitamins are helpful for replacing essential vitamins and minerals that my body can’t naturally produce, it is not the cure for my overall health. Water and a proper diet would result in a stronger healthy lifestyle.

Also, this book helps people accept their natural beauty. They do not have to cake on makeup daily. They do not have to alter or change the way my body looks. People can just smile, and just simply be themselves. There lies the true beauty. Once people see how a person is naturally happy with themselves, people are instantly attracted to that person. So, smile and stay positive.

CONS:

Be prepared to see a lot of advertising to David Pollock’s website in this book. The advertisement to his website starts at chapter two, and continuous through the whole book. I can understand placing a website at the beginning of the book, or the ending of the book. But, it becomes annoying when every sentence starts with “If you want to see more information, go to my website.” or “Go to my website to see more of my thoughts of this topic.”

I want to be able to enjoy an author’s thoughts and ideas, without the constant directory to the author’s website. It is repetitive, annoying, and a huge turn off for me when it comes to reading an inspirational or informative book.

FINAL THOUGHTS:

Getting pass the website advertisements, I enjoyed Stop The Lies: Secrets The Beauty Industry Doesn’t Want You To Know. I am more aware of the dangers of some chemicals and ingredients produced in beauty products, I am influenced to live a better and healthier lifestyle, and a positive attitude is naturally beautiful. I would recommend this book to everyone. Women, men, young adults, and beauty gurus/bloggers who believe in wearing makeup on a daily basis, to make themselves feel beautiful. This is a very good book.
